About Our Rings

Q: Is tungsten carbide indestructible?

No, nothing is indestructible. Tungsten is highly scratch-resistant, but it is not scratch-proof. Tungsten is the hardest metal on Earth, so no other metal can scratch it. However, there are harder non-metals like diamonds or crystals that can scratch tungsten. Due to its extreme hardness, tungsten does not bend like softer metals like gold. It can break or crack just the same as a diamond can.

Q: Can tungsten carbide rings be resized?

The hardness of tungsten carbide gives it a highly durable quality that its owners value and appreciate. However, the hardness of tungsten means that it does not bend. This makes tungsten unable to be resized in the traditional sense where a section of gold ring, for example, can be added or removed from the band and reconnected. Instead, Timeless Tungsten offers a free lifetime "resizing" guarantee on all of our rings. If your finger size should ever change and your ring no longer fits you, simply contact us and we will replace your ring for free with one in your desired size. In this way, we are able to "resize" our tungsten carbide rings for you.

Q: What is comfort fit?

Comfort fit rings are rounded on the inside of the ring as opposed to being flat as in a standard fit ring. This makes the ring more "comfortable" but it can also cause the fit to feel differently. This is due to less surface area making contact with your finger. The size of a comfort fit ring is determined by the smallest inside diameter across the middle of the band. On a standard fit ring, which is flat, the entire inside diameter is the same size. What this means is that comfort fit rings generally feel looser than standard fit rings of the same size. We generally suggest choosing a half size smaller than your standard fit size when selecting a comfort fit ring. For more information, please see our ring sizing guide.

Q: What is standard fit?

Standard fit rings are flat on the inside of the ring as opposed to being slightly rounded as in our comfort fit rings. The ring size is determined by the inside diameter, which is uniform through the width of the ring. This generally gives standard fit rings a tighter feel over a comfort fit ring of the same size. Generally, we recommend choosing a comfort fit ring that is a half size smaller than your standard fit size to get the same fit. More information is available in our ring sizing guide.

Q: Can I add an engraving to my ring?

Yes, we offer a custom laser engraving service to personalize your ring with a special message. We have a variety of fonts to choose from and a 30 character text limit. To add an engraving to any ring, simply select the engraving option in the product page to specify a font and message. Please note that the engraving service is non-refundable as it is a one-time service, much like shipping is, which is a cost we cannot recoup in the advent of a return or exchange.

Q: Do you offer quarter (0.25) size ring increments?

No, at this time we only carry rings in US size half (0.5) step increments. The difference in inside diameter of a half size is only about 0.4 mm, so we find that either going a half step up or down will generally get you the right fit.

Q: What ring sizes do you carry?

For most ring widths, we offer US size 4 to 13.5. It's possible for some of our rings that we offer smaller or larger sizes. Each ring's product page has a complete list of available ring sizes specific to that style.

Q: When will an out of stock ring be back in stock?

It won't. All of our rings are hand made with industrial machinery. We often pre-make our most popular rings in most sizes in order to offer an expedited turnaround time so we can ship our orders as quickly as possible. When we discontinue a ring style, we may still have it in stock and it may continue to be available for purchase, but we will no longer manufacture it. Once our stock is sold for that style of ring, it will not be replenished. If you find a ring that is out of stock, then it will not be stocked in the future.

Q: When I select a certain ring size/width combination, I get "The selected product combination is not available." What does this mean?

This message indicates that for the given width of the ring, we do not offer it in the size you have chosen. We have a dropdown menu displaying all possible ring sizes and widths, but not all sizes are available for all widths. Generally, the smaller the width of the ring, the smaller the ring size that is offered. Larger width rings generally come in larger ring sizes. This is due to feasibility and practicality of the combination selected. If you see this message, then you will not be able to purchase this ring without changing either the selected size or width.

Q: Are the woods used in the inlay rings responsibly sourced?

Yes, we do not source our wood from suppliers who actively cut down trees. Our woods are responsibly harvested from naturally fallen trees. Rare Hawaiian koa wood, for example, is considered sacred, and it is against the law to cut the tree down for the wood. Hawaiian koa wood must be harvested from fallen trees. We believe in extending this principle to all of our wood materials in an effort to protect our precious environment.

Q: Are the dinosaur bone rings real? Do you offer a certificate of authenticity?

Yes, we use real fossilized dinosaur bone in our inlay rings. The inlay is not covered by a resin layer, so when you touch it you are touching actual dinosaur bone. These bones are are not museum grade and are not usable to paleontologists, so they do not impede the preservation of our natural history. We are unable to offer any certificate of authenticity as these bones are not museum grade and do not warrant such a certification.

Q: The ring doesn't fit, how do I make an exchange?

You are free to return a ring for any reason within 30 days of your purchase.
